Growth - Collaboration with the land of Kestle Barton
Newlyn Society of Artists Group Show - Site Non Site - Kestle Barton - Helston
2012
14 artists from the NSA (Newlyn Society of Artists) were invited to make new work at Kestle Barton in the surrounding grounds and relate it to the gallery space.
A series of time based collaborative pieces that explore how different environments and conditions within Kestle Barton have different affects on the surfaces of wood and what imagery and narrative they will create. I worked on a dozen panels of wood, sometimes with pencil or ink and with others treated with wax or varnish, the pieces were then buried around the Kestle Barton site. After 6 months the panels were unearthed and taken back to the studio for further intervention before being presented in the exhibition, Site Non Site, as one body of work, a triptych.
