During my 3-month residency at Porthmeor Studios, I dedicated some time to obscuring the windows overlooking the stunning Porthmeor beach with dirt, capturing photographs through these smeared panes.
Often, there exists an opinion—frequently held beyond Cornwall—that people growing up and living in St Ives lead a carefree, idyllic lifestyle. This perception couldn't be further from reality.
There are pockets of St Ives with the largest percentage of children living in poverty in Cornwall, ranking among the highest in the country.
From these photographs I created a series of 'Dirty Postcards' which accompanied the Open Studios event
